Skiing in Vitosha

Vitosha offers excellent conditions for snow sports, with huge skiing areas and a lot of snowy tracks. Skiing and boarding conditions are perfect, but tourists with bigger requirements as to hotels and night life conditions will not find the best in Vitosha. That is why hotels and lodging in the nearby quarters of Sofia are recommended to them. The ski runs of Vitosha are various in difficulty and length and they are suitable for skiers and boarders of any level. Vitosha has six ski runs - the Green ski run being the easiest and the Vitoshko Lale the most difficult one. There is also a cross-country trail - Univerisada, 9600 m long. All ski runs have the necessary facilities. There is a number of chair and drag lifts, as well as a Gondola lift starting from the outskirts of Sofia and reaching almost the top of the mountain near Aleko ski center.

Aleko chalet offers ski and snowboarding equipment for rent and highly qualified ski instructors. Over the weekends in the winter the area and the ski run near the Aleko chalet become overcrowded.

Prices for adults and children to hire ski, boots and poles are respectively 12 EUR (8 EUR) a day. For a snowboard and boots one pays 14 EUR a day.
Aleko and Moten Ski and Snowboarding School provide Ski and Snowboarding School to children from the age of 3 to adults. The price for a 5-day ski kindergarten (children aged 3 to 6) is 60 EUR. Ski school for students aged 7 to 17 is 65 EUR, the adults (aged 17 and above) pay 70 EUR for a 5-day training.
